The homemade Solar System

I looked at a lot of solar system mobiles. Some were expensive, some were flimsy, and I had a hankering to do some DIY. Not too much DIY, however, so I bought these:

They're already painted, and have little rings for hanging with fishing line, included. I hung them from a circular wreath form, with my husband as astronomy consultant to tell me the correct order, and hung the form from some striped ribbon from a hanging plant hook that my husband put up on a bookshelf next to Jack's bed. He can sit on the bed and fly his rocket ships from planet to planet. I didn't want something fragile that would have to be hung out of his reach. He has a great time!
